Restore Backed-Up Files

This guide shows you how to use AllSync to restore backed-up files from a data mirroring operation to their original location.

1. Create a Profile for Restoration

  • Create a copy of the profile you normally use for data mirroring.

2. Swap Source and Destination Folders

  • Open the copied profile.
  • Select Folders from the menu.
  • Click the 'Swap all source and destination folders' button in the toolbar above the source folder list.
  • Enable the checkboxes in front of the source and destination folders in both lists.
  • Example: If the original profile used C:\Data as the source folder and D:\Backup as the destination folder, the copy should now use D:\Backup as the source and C:\Data as the destination.
  • Save the settings using the OK button.

3. Create Copy Preview

  • Select the copied profile from the profile list.
  • Click Action in the menu bar above the profile list and then 'Create copy preview without action icons'.
  • In the left table of the report, you will now see the backed-up files (the source for restoration).
  • In the right table of the report, you will see the files at their original location (the destination for restoration).

4. Select Files to Restore

  • Right-click on a file in the left table of the report that you want to restore.
  • Select the Copy command from the context menu.
  • Repeat this process for each file you want to restore.

5. Start Restoration

  • Click the 'Process copy preview' button in the toolbar above the copy preview to copy the selected files back to their original location.
