AllSync 4 Manual ➝ Profile Properties

Copy Mode

The copy mode defines how data is transferred between the source and destination folder. Depending on the selected mode, you can synchronize, mirror, back up, or transfer files selectively. Selecting the copy mode is a key setting within the profile properties and determines the behavior of the entire copy process.

Copy Mode

AllSync offers six different copy modes that can be flexibly customized using individual copy rules:
  • 1:1 Copy
  • Update
  • Custom
  • Synchronize
  • Fill
  • Backup

Copy Mode: 1:1 Copy

Creates an exact copy of the source folder contents in the destination folder.
  • Copies source files with differing modification dates or file sizes.
  • Copies folders and files not yet present in the destination folder.
  • Deletes files and folders in the destination folder that do not exist in the source folder.
  • Does not modify data in the source folder.

Copy Mode: Update

Copies only new or changed data from the source to the destination folder.
  • Copies source files with differing modification dates or file sizes.
  • Copies folders and files not yet present in the destination folder.
  • Does not delete data in the destination folder.
  • Does not modify data in the source folder.

Copy Mode: Custom

Allows copying or moving files and folders using freely definable rules.
  • Individual copy rules independent of the 1:1 Copy mode.
  • Source files can be saved as compressed ZIP files in the destination folder.
  • Source files can be moved to the destination folder.
  • Source files can be saved in the destination folder without their folder structure.
  • Depending on the settings, the source folder contents may be modified — e.g., when moving files.

Copy Mode: Synchronize

Aligns the contents between source and destination folders so that both folders are identical.
  • Copies files with newer modification dates in both directions.
  • Copies missing files and folders in both directions.
  • Deletes files and folders that were removed in the other folder since the last copy operation. See structure conflict.
  • Executes defined actions when the same file has been modified in both folders since the last copy operation. See file conflict.

Copy Mode: Fill

Copies only missing files and folders to complete the contents between source and destination folders.
  • Copies content in both directions if missing in the other folder.
  • Does not delete or overwrite folders and files in the source or destination folder.

Copy Mode: Backup

Copies the contents of the source folder into a backup folder within the destination folder.
  • Individually configurable copy rules.
  • Backup can be performed into a new subfolder within the backup folder during each copy operation.
  • Backup can be saved as a ZIP file.
  • Limit the number of backups using the backup generations option.

Copy Direction

The copy direction is visually represented and shows how data is transferred:
  • Only from source to destination folder.
  • From source to destination and vice versa (bidirectional).

Copy Template

This option allows you to select a template for a specific copy operation. Clicking Apply automatically adjusts the profile settings according to the selected template. The following templates can be selected:
  • Mirroring
  • Update
  • Synchronization
  • Fill (Synchronization)
  • Synchronization with structure conflict
